The multilingual film Brahma Rakshasa unveiled its first song during a packed event at SRV Theater in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, on Saturday evening.
Umesh Banakar, President of KFPA, presided over the event and wished the team good luck. He also expressed his happiness with the dedication shown by the producers, hero, and director of the film.
Shanker V., the director of Brahma Rakshasa, began his career in the film industry as a lightman and learned the craft from several directors. This is his debut film under Jyoti Arts, produced by Srinivas.
The item song “Sanje Hottalli Mai Pulaka…” was released. The film is set in the 1980s and 90s, featuring Ankush Eklavya and Pallavi Gowda as the lead actors, with Vaijyanath Biradar in a special role. Brahma Rakshasa is being made in five languages, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi, but only the Kannada version of the song has been released so far.
The teaser of the film has received high praise. The movie features five songs composed by M.S. Thyagaraj, and this was the first to be released. Music director Thyagaraj introduced the singers involved in the film and expressed hope for the songs to reach a wide audience. “I had the opportunity to work creatively. This song was sung by Mamata Sharma, and I wrote the lyrics,” he said.
Veteran actor Biradar, speaking at the event, mentioned that the movie has turned out well and that the characters have been perfectly cast. He commended the director’s hard work and expressed confidence that people will enjoy the movie.
Actor Arvind Rao praised Ankush’s brilliant dance performance, noting that the entire movie has a retro style, and the song reflects this theme.
Producer K.M.P. Srinivas, who previously produced Kaliveera, said that Brahma Rakshasa is his second film. He expressed satisfaction with the movie, attributing its success to everyone’s cooperation. He mentioned that the director made the film without any mistakes and that the hero sustained injuries while performing realistic stunts. “This movie has given us satisfaction. We have depicted how a man created by Brahma becomes a demon,” he said.
Director Shanker stated that his dream has come true, emphasizing the importance of the producers’ support. “This is my first film, and the story was conceived during the lockdown. Most of the shooting took place in Udupi, Kundapur, and on sets. Eighty percent of the film was shot at night with a rain effect. The film carries a social message about two people who are unjustly imprisoned and how they set out to avenge their wrongs.”
Brahma Rakshasa received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board. Shanker assured that this is a movie the entire family can enjoy together.
Actor Ankush Ekalavya, who previously acted in Kaliveera, said, “This is my second attempt. The day before the release of Kaliveera, I was putting up posters from Bangalore to Hubli. Although I sustained injuries during the shoot, this film is important to me. I not only acted but also danced in this film.”
The film features Aniruddha’s camerawork, with music and background score by M.S. Thyagaraj. The cast includes Arvind Rao, Swapna, Purushottam, Bala Rajwadi, Rathavara Dev, Bhuvan Gowda, Chikkahezzaji Majadev, Shivanandappa Havanur, and many other artists.
