In this latest venture, Director Rajashekhar is breaking new ground with ‘Back Benchers,’ strategically leveraging the potential of the younger generation.

After a year and a half of meticulous research, Rajashekhar has yielded positive outcomes for ‘Back Benchers.’ From the inception of the story, through screenplay and direction, he crafted his work. However, the involvement of the youth has significantly transformed his approach, resulting in a superior presentation. Suchindra Prasad, a seasoned actor, played a crucial role in identifying and selecting the right talent and also takes on a principal role in the film.

Following an exhaustive talent hunt, twenty-plus individuals were chosen from a pool of 700 candidates. Armed with a suitcase of costumes, these youths brought vibrancy to their performances. Initially shot on a mobile phone as a rehearsal, this approach contributed to a seamless and enjoyable production for the 20-plus age group. Rajashekhar attributes the success to the collaborative effort of the team, emphasizing the positive energy compared to his previous directorial and production endeavors.

Renowned singer-turned-musician, Composer Nakul Abhyankar, expressed his eagerness for a subject that allows for a musical treat. He composed seven lively songs for the film, following his work on Love Mocktail 2. Nakul Abhyankar collaborated with Vijayaprakash, Shankara Mahadevan, and Chandan Shetty, enhancing the musical experience for ‘BB.’

Senior cinematographer Manohar Joshi, reminiscing about his days as a backbencher, appreciated the nostalgic mobile shoot showcased in the film. The second and third-year engineering students, full of zeal and fun, contribute to the vibrant atmosphere.

Sridhar Murthy MD of NSB (National School of Business) found great joy in witnessing the shooting at his college without doors. He highlighted the film’s relatability, democratic values, and nostalgic feel. ‘Back Benchers’ carries a profound message, portraying intense emotions and urging viewers not to underestimate anyone. Co-producer Rajeev expressed equal delight, foreseeing the Back Benchers as the future of the industry.

Talented actor and director Aravind Kuplikar plays the only serious role, offering valuable advice and ideologies to the youth. The cast includes Arya, Ranjan, Jathin, Nischat, Shashank, Prajwal, Akash, Manya Gowda, Kumkum, Anusha Suresh, Manoj Shetty, Namitha Gowda, and others.

The film garnered international attention when acclaimed music director and Oscar winner AR Rehman extended his best wishes to music director Nakul Abhyankar for the film’s first song sung by Vijayaprakash.
