It took 500 years to enshrine the birthplace of Lord Rama. The Babri Masjid was erected in Ayodhya in 1528, sparking numerous struggles for the construction of a temple dedicated to Sri Ram at that site. This dispute endured through the courts, spanning over a century, potentially distancing it from Sri Ram’s birthplace. Finally, in 2019, the court granted permission for the construction of the Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya. In January 2024, the grand installation of Sri Rama took place, fulfilling the dreams of millions.
Director Srinivasa Raju has proposed to bring the story of Ayodhya’s Sri Rama Mandir to the screen in the form of a biopic. While the film’s title is yet to be decided, it carries the tagline “Satyam Shivam Sundaram.” Prashant G Rudrappa, the producer of “Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi,” will produce this film through Trishul Entertainment.
Typically, biopics center on individuals. However, in my opinion, a biopic of a temple, specifically the Sri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, is warranted. I aim to portray 500 years of history on screen through this film, which will be produced in Kannada. The story begins with the Sri Rama temple established by Raja Vikramaditya before the Babri Masjid, incorporating elements of the Ramayana. However, it is not a retelling of the entire Ramayana; rather, it focuses on six key characters: Dasharatha, Rama, Sita, Hanumanta, Vali, and Valmiki, with a role for Tulsidas as well. The film highlights the noble qualities of Sri Rama, encapsulated by the tagline “Satyam Shivam Sundaram,” and will be released in three parts. While the title is yet to be determined, the film will be produced on a grand scale, featuring renowned artists and technicians from India. I have penned the story and screenplay for this project. This is my statement regarding the upcoming film on the occasion of Sri Ram Navami. Director Srinivasaraju has promised to unveil further details, including the film’s title, in the days to come.
