The blockbuster Kannada film of Dr Ambarish in double role in SV Rajendra Singh Babu Direction of early 80s’ the first political thriller ‘Antha’ is releasing once again with technology laced to it.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr Ambarish on May 29, the film is hitting well in advance on May 26.
SV Rajendra Singh Babu recollecting the days of making of ‘Antha’ in Parimala Arts said it was Maruthi, Venu and KCN Chandrasekhar production. Ambarish agreed for lead role and later Lakshmi, Vajramuni, Sundarakrishna Urs, Musuru Krishnamurthy, Prabhakar, Latha, Jayamala, Pandari Bai, Shakthi Prasad, Dikki Madhava Rao, MS Umesh, Ashwath Narayan, Sharapanjara Iyengar, Lakshman and others came on board. The film shoot was held in Mysuru with 18 lavish sets. This ‘Antha’ was pan India cinema for those days, he says.
May 29 is Ambarish 71 birth anniversary and on May 26 the film is hitting silver screen in over 70 screens.
This time Jayanna Films is releasing, the original was 35 mm and it is made to 70 MM now, sound, coloring and other latest technological uplift is given now says Venu one of the producers of ‘Antha’.
Antha is based on novelist HK Ananth Rao novel, PS Prakash is cinematographer, GK Venkatesh composed music. HV Subba Rao joined hands with SV Rajendra Singh Babu in writing the screenplay of this 129 minutes film.
