The accomplished dubbing artist, actor, writer, and singer known to the Kannada audience as ‘Armugam,’ Ravi Shankar the 56-year-old talent, is making a directorial comeback after a hiatus of two decades.

This time, Ravi Shankar is taking the director’s chair to guide his well-prepared son, Adhvey, in ‘SUBRAMANYA,’ with the announcement timed for the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami during the great Indian festival. In 2018, he had already hinted at his intention to direct his son, who was diligently honing his skills.

For the versatile actor Ravi Shankar, this presents a unique and significant opportunity as he embarks on directing his son, Adhvey, a rare occurrence in the Indian film industry. In 2004, Ravi Shankar directed the Kannada film ‘Durgi,’ starring Malashri in the titular role.

Ravi Shankar’s journey began in 1979 as a child artist in ‘Gorintuku.’ Subsequently, he transitioned into a renowned dubbing artist, but his acting talents truly shone through in Karnataka with Kichcha Sudeepa’s ‘Kempe Gowda.’ His portrayal of Armugam and his delivery of dialogues resonated with the audience, establishing him as a dialogue maestro, much like his elder brother, Saikumar, among the pool of over 200 film actors in the South Indian cinema.

From a single ‘Armugam’ role, Ravi Shankar’s career trajectory shifted from dubbing to acting, making him one of the most sought-after actors today. Now, he is taking the helm as a director for his son, Adhvey, who has undergone rigorous training abroad to refine his acting skills.

The title poster of ‘Subramanya’ is adorned with captivating elements, including a temple, a flame, a book, and a peacock feather, setting the tone for the film.

Renowned cinematographer Arjun Reddy fame Raj Thota is in charge of the camera for this multilingual film ‘Subramanya,’ which encompasses Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. Ravi Basroor, known for his work in films like KGF and Salaar, is composing the music, Vijay M Kumar serves as the editor, and Manju Masthi is crafting the dialogues.

This promising film ‘Subramanya’ is produced by SG Movie Makers, led by Nadi Thirumala Reddy and Anil Kadiyala, and is scheduled to commence production in December of this year.
