PRK Production, led by Smt. Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar, presents their latest venture ‘Achar and Co’, marking the directorial debut of Sindhu Srinivasamurthy. The film is set to release all over Karnataka on July 28th.

While PRK’s earlier films like ‘French Biryani’, ‘Law’, and ‘Man of the Match’ were released on OTT platforms, ‘Achar and Co’, set in the 1960s era, will have a theatrical release before premiering on Amazon Prime.

Sindhu Srinivasamurthy, belonging to the 90s generation, has chosen a story from the 60s era to captivate the audience of 2023. This unique and intriguing decision showcases Sindhu’s creativity. Drawing inspiration from her mother’s experiences and conducting thorough research, Sindhu presents her film on the silver screen. Power star Puneeth Rajkumar had watched a 7-minute short film by Sindhu, a theater personality, and promised to collaborate on a feature film. Despite his absence, Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar provided strong encouragement to the team of ‘Achar and Co’.

The film explores the shift of women entering the workforce in the 60s, connecting it to the present generation’s software boom and strong women’s empowerment movement. Sindhu, who also plays a prominent role in the film, mentions that her unwavering belief and freedom allowed her to direct this film with an orthodox backdrop. The story revolves around a family headed by a father with ten children. It weaves various emotions into funny moments, accompanied by melodious songs composed by state award winner Bindhu Malini, promising a delightful experience for family audiences. The majority of the shooting took place in an old University house in Mysuru, chosen by Sindhu. The art department worked tirelessly to create an authentic setting for the film. Sindhu adds that through cinematic techniques, they condensed ten years of time into the narrative.

Smt. Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar commends the talented team and appreciates their excellent craftsmanship in the film.

Ashok, playing the character of Madhusudhan Achar, a veteran actor from the 70s era, emphasizes the strong confidence portrayed by women in the film. He states that working on this film increased his bond with young talent. While the concept of a family with ten children may not exist today, Ashok believes the audience will find it intriguing. He urges the audience to watch this film in theaters.

Sudha Belawadi, portraying the role of Savithri Achar, the mother of ten children in the film, praises the near-perfect artwork. She witnessed the passion within the team and highlights the sense of family while working together. Sudha feels that ‘Achar and Co’ is a unique film that will provide a new experience for the audience.
