The Kannada film Swapna Mantapa, directed by Baraguru Ramachandrappa, is set to release across the state on July 25. The film stars Vijay Raghavendra and Ranjani Raghavan in lead roles.

The film has been produced by A.M. Babu from Mysore under the banner of Male Mahadeshwara Enterprises. Mars Suresh is distributing the film. A press conference was held to share details about the film’s release, in which the film team participated.

Director Baraguru Ramachandrappa stated that the film is based on his own novel Swapna Mantapa, written 25 years ago. He mentioned that the film advocates the preservation of traditional structures. Historically, pavilions built by kings for their second wives were referred to as “Swapna Mantapas.” In the film, when some individuals attempt to destroy one such mantapa in a village and use it for other purposes, the protagonists create awareness among the locals to protect the heritage structure. This forms the core plot of the film.

Vijay Raghavendra and Ranjani Raghavan have portrayed dual roles in the film. The film has been screened at various film festivals, including the Bengaluru International Film Festival. The music is composed by Shamitha Malnad, editing is by Suresh Urs, and cinematography is by Nagaraj Adavani. Baraguru Ramachandrappa has written the screenplay and dialogues.

Baraguru Ramachandrappa also stated that to support experimental films, the government should establish 150-seat theatres in every district and ensure that ticket prices do not exceed ₹100. He mentioned that he has submitted this suggestion to the Chief Minister and urged the government to act swiftly in the interest of the film industry.

Actor Vijay Raghavendra said he had wished to act under the direction of Baraguru Ramachandrappa and that the film fulfilled that desire. He also shared that he has sung a song in the film.

Producer A.M. Babu requested public support for the film’s release on July 25.

Music director Shamitha Malnad spoke about the film’s songs. Cast and crew members including Rajappa Dalavayi, Mysore Manjula, Shivalinga Prasad, cinematographer Nagaraj Adavani, and associate director Nataraj Shivu were present at the press conference.
