Sandalwood actor-director Rishab Shetty has received a major surprise on his birthday. Hombale Films has officially announced a significant update regarding Kantara Chapter 1, which is being produced on a large scale under their banner. The 2022 film Kantara, which had released and set new records, is now being made into a prequel. The film is scheduled for worldwide release on October 2, 2025. The announcement was made by Hombale Films on the occasion of Rishab Shetty’s birthday.
Kantara, released in 2022, set new benchmarks in Indian cinema. Set against the backdrop of nature, culture, and spirituality, the film received wide recognition. It had a strong run at the box office. Initially released only in Kannada, it later expanded into a pan-India release. Now, its prequel is set for release. Hombale Films has released a new poster as a birthday surprise for Rishab Shetty.
Hombale Films released a new look from Kantara Chapter 1 with the caption: “The prologue to a legend… An introduction to the word… Welcome again to a tale from the soul.” Rishab Shetty appears in a never-before-seen look in the poster. The production house also confirmed that the film’s shooting has been completed.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is a film that includes elements of both spirituality and adventure. Compared to the earlier film, this one features several new aspects. The earlier teaser had already sparked interest. The film is now ready for theatrical release.
A massive set was built across 25 acres for the shoot of Kantara Chapter 1, designed to represent a fictional village. Indian and international technicians have worked on the project. Around 500 trainers and more than 3,000 junior artists participated in the shoot, which lasted for 45 to 50 days.
Along with Kantara: Chapter 1, Hombale Films has multiple other projects in the pipeline, including Salaar: Part 2 – Shauryanga Parvam. The countdown for Kantara: Chapter 1 has now begun.
