Samarth M. The trailer was recently released by actor-director Nagendra Aras.
Produced under the banner of Abhay Khushi Movies, the film has been financed by Vasudev R. Doddahajjaji, who himself comes from a farming background. The trailer was launched at a recent press meet, with noted artist Nagendra Aras unveiling it.
“Athani” is named after a town and depicts the everyday struggles and challenges faced by farmers. The team mentioned during the event that while many claim to support farmers, very few actually stand by them in difficult times.
The film’s highlight is that the producer himself, Vasudev R. Doddahajjaji, is a farmer who was moved by the story narrated by Samarth and decided to invest in the film. The tagline of the film is “Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage.” Alongside portraying the life of a farmer, the narrative also includes elements of a suspense thriller. Samarth M not only directed the film but also plays the lead role. Madhu plays the female lead.

Technical credits include music by Harsha Kagodu, cinematography by Sandeep Honnali and Sunay S. Jain, with Sunay also handling the editing. The late Rakesh Poojary appears in the role of the protagonist’s uncle. The ensemble cast includes Shobh Raj, Yatiraj, Bhavya, Hanumanthe Gowda, Bala Rajavadi, and Nagendra Aras.
According to Samarth, the film has been viewed by the Censor Board and preparations are underway for its release.
Producer Vasudev R. Doddahajjaji stated, “Being a farmer myself and having witnessed the challenges they face, I connected with the story Samarth told. That’s why I decided to invest in the project. We request everyone to watch and support the film.”
Actress Madhu said she plays the role of a fighter. Nagendra Aras mentioned that, unlike his usual police roles, he appears as a doctor in this film.
Also present at the press meet were cinematographer and editor Sunay S. Jain, executive producer Rajani (an environmentalist), and cast members Gangaraj, Murthy Vishnupriya, and Raju. Background score for the film has been composed by Vinumanasu.
