A new Kannada film titled “Ujjayini Mahakaal” is taking shape with a fresh team of talents. Produced and directed by Hariprasad M.B., the film features Vinay as the lead actor.
“Ujjayini Mahakaal” is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and now, a Kannada film with the same title is under production. However, this is not a mythological film but a suspense thriller. Directed and produced by Hariprasad M. Mandya, the film is being made with a new team of artists and technicians. The title was recently unveiled by M. Narasimhulu, the president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. On this occasion, producer Nagesh Kumar and director J.G. Srinivas were present. Several dignitaries conveyed their best wishes to the team, and later, the film crew shared insights about the project.

Speaking about the film, director and producer Hariprasad M.B. Mandya said, “I am originally from Mandya and have been associated with the film industry for the past fifteen years. However, this is my first project as an independent director. The shooting began a month ago, and we have completed half of it. Now, we have finalized the title as ‘Ujjayini Mahakaal.’ This is not a mythological film but a suspense thriller. There is a reason behind naming it ‘Ujjayini Mahakaal’ as it is connected to the story. In the next phase, we will also shoot in Ujjain. Currently, filming is happening around Mysore. Everyone encounters a ‘Mahakaal’ moment in life. What happens when our protagonist faces it? That is what we are portraying. I have written the story, screenplay, and dialogues, along with handling production and direction. Ratnakar and Mohan have supported the production.”
Actor Vinay, who is playing the lead role, expressed, “I have previously acted as a supporting artist, but this is my first film as a lead actor. I play the role of an orphan named Surya.” Actress Ashwini Belur, who is playing the female lead, revealed, “My character’s name is Priya.” Another actress, Diana Jessica, added, “My character’s name is Keerthi, and I play a police officer in this film.” Actors Mohan Channapatna and Raman also shared details about their respective roles in the movie.
The cinematography is handled by Raghu A Roogi, music is composed by Kalki Abhishek, and editing is done by Gani Lachhu & Raghu A Roogi. The film is expected to be an engaging thriller, combining suspense with a unique storyline.
