‘Gana’ is a film filled with excitement and offers new experiences for the cinema audiences. Although it is a remake of ‘Play Back’ of 2021, the film has a purpose and is refreshing for the new audience. The point of connecting 1993 to 2022 is what makes it interesting. Of course it is debatable yet for the celluloid it is a game changer.
The climax part of the film altered by director Hariprasad Jakka sounds interesting and a good solace indeed after watching so many ups and downs.
The television journalist Gana breaks an interesting story for his channel. This particular story makes him go for more investigation and unravel the truth. It is such a coincidence that Gana (Prajwal Devaraj) traces the strange phone call. The repeated call to his landline at home makes it further interesting. To the surprise of everyone Gana is receiving the call in 2022 that has connection to 1993. The two time frame discussion between Sujatha (Vedhika) and Gana sounds interesting and leads to various strange developments of the past. In fact it helps Gana for his investigation at work but all that is not easy. His closets in the office are connected in tracing the killings of 29 years ago.
The film ‘Gana’ picks up the momentum very quickly and makes the audience get glued to their seats. The past and present of course the imagination of the director makes it worth watching.
In 2022 Gana has to find the real murderers but he has a big encouragement from 1993 caller Sujatha. Sujatha is the step mother of Gana and he was called affectionately Chinnu builds up the emotional moments.
Finding the 29 years old culprits and banishing the villains becomes a big task for Gana that he efficiently handles.
Prajwal Devaraj shines very well in the mother and son conversations. He takes on the villains with guts and shines as an action hero too. In the romantic moments with Yasha he looks the real lover boy.
Vedhika as 1993 mother has performed well; Yasha Shivakumar looks very cute and performed with ease. Vishal Hegde, Ramesh Bhat, Krishi Tapanda, Ravi Kaale and Sampath Raj lend able support. Shivaraj KR Pete in the comedy role deserves appreciation.
The cinematography of Jai Anand is a feast to the eyes while the scoring of Pranav Rao is quite interesting.
This is a family worth watching cinema that offers many interesting and intriguing moments.
