The much-awaited Kannada film Sanju Weds Geetha 2 has arrived with technical brilliance but not with a compelling storyline. Director Nagashekhar has immensely fallen in love with this film, but he applies the snake-and-ladder style of narration, which lags in places. Except for the technical brilliance, the beauty of the film’s storyline is tucked into a wafer-thin measurement. Of course, the heart breaks to some extent when the liver failure is at its peak.

Nagashekhar has not learned the magic of compelling narration despite giving hat-trick hits in his career. The point about Shidlaghatta Silk making waves is also not a strong mark in the film. The director’s fascination with showcasing excellent scenery has taken major interest.

As a matter of fact, the IDLY issue I Deeply Love You is at the forefront. The affluent Geetha is bowled over by the presentation made to her on the streets by Sanju for the Miss Karnataka contest, which strongly opens up the love factor. Geetha sets aside her father’s affluence for her deep love. The reason she loves Sanju immensely is that she sees a mother’s love in his eyes. Obviously, the lining of eminent lyricist Kaviraj in the song Maleyanthe Baa… with the lyrics Ammanittha Mutthante Baa… is very apt.

With love facing two major setbacks, the film moves to an unexpected end. The cruelty of a father towards his daughter is one, and the other you have to watch on screen.

Srinagara Kitty has given a cool and composed performance. His swag is good, and while challenging actor Sampath, he shows his acting prowess. The Dimple Queen Rachita Ram’s rotund personality affects her acting skill. No doubt, a good performer has to give up her plum image.  Sadhu Kokila is wasted, and Tabla Nani speaking Telugu-mixed Kannada lends some old jokes.

The technical heroes of this film are Sathya Hegde in cinematography and Sridhar Sambram in music. Both are exceptionally good and are sure to get awards for their work.

Sampath, as Geetha’s father, has given his best, and Chetan Chandra as a doctor is quite okay. Ragini’s cameo role is not special at all in this 122-minute film.

The film is told in a serene and sensible style. Of course, Nagashekhar has not met expectations. Producer Chalavadi Kumar’s boldness in investing in this type of film shows his taste for quality cinema.
