The much-anticipated film UI, starring and directed by Upendra, is set for a grand release on December 20 across five languages as a pan-India project. Before that, the movie’s teaser was launched on Monday, which introduced the film with a unique twist. Having showcased a futuristic India in Super (set in 2030), Upendra is now taking a leap forward, presenting the story set in 2040. Once again, he attempts to portray a future society in his signature style.

Naturally, the question arises: Is ‘UI’ a sequel to ‘Super’? Upendra clears the air, saying, “This is not a continuation of Super. In UI, I am symbolically exploring what could happen by 2040. The film is filled with metaphors, and while it is a full-on entertainer, it also attempts to convey various messages. How the audience interprets these messages is up to them. Through this film, I hope that everyone will reflect on themselves.”

Upendra envisions the creation of millions of heroes through this film. “While the story focuses on one hero, it is essentially the story of all of us. Everyone should see themselves in the character of the hero. Through this film, I am attempting to create millions of heroes. Along with an entertaining storyline, I have tried to convey another layer of meaning. The film contains several surprises, and I believe the audience will understand and appreciate it,” he added.

The film is produced jointly by G. Manoharan and Srikanth K.P. under the banners of Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers. Upendra has also written the story, screenplay, and dialogues, in addition to directing and starring in the lead role. The film also features an ensemble cast including Reeshma Nanaiah, Nidhi Subbaiah, Ravishankar, Achyuth Kumar, Sadhu Kokila, and others.
