A few films reflecting the cultural history, rituals, and art of our country have already entertained audiences. Now, another movie is set to follow the same path. Rudrabhishekam features the talented actor Vijay Raghavendra as a Veeragase artiste. The Muhurta ceremony for the film was held in a simple manner at a farmhouse in Vijayapura near Devanahalli.

Vijay Raghavendra shared his thoughts, saying, “This is another good effort. A story that intertwines a short history with the cultural background of our country and showcases its glory is always appealing to the youth. The film carries a lot of divinity, even though it has commercial elements. The director has crafted a unique concept based on the Veeragase art form. This is the first time I am appearing as a Veeragase artiste, and I have several getups in the film.”

Director Vasanth Kumar said, “I have been part of the film industry for the last two and a half decades. I have co-directed, written stories, and worked on screenplays for several films. Rudrabhishekam is a traditional subject. Using the folk backdrop of our country, I am presenting an art form that has a history spanning hundreds of years. I spent one and a half years conducting research before finalizing the story. While working on it, I also consulted several priests for insights.”

He added, “The story is rooted in the legend of Lord Veerabhadra. It explores how and why he came into being. While developing the script, I envisioned Vijay Raghavendra in the Veeragase getup. Several of my friends are collaborating on this project to bring it to life.”

The director also explained the shooting plans: “We are starting with 15 days of filming at this farmhouse. Later, we will move to a location called Chikkatadamangala, a town known for its banyan trees and its community of Veerabhadra devotees. The local people are incredibly supportive and have assured us of their cooperation.”

The film is being produced under the banner of Fan India Creations by the director’s friends, including Jayaramanna, Shivaram, Chidanand, Hadapada, Ramesh, Manjunath, Munikrishnappa, Ravi, Aswath, and Anand.

Mysore-based theater artist Prerana plays the lead role in Rudrabhishekam. Another talented actor, Bala Rajawadi, portrays the village chieftain. Senior music director V. Manohar is composing music for four songs in the film, with cinematography handled by Muthuraj.
