The film “KD” has set a new record for audio rights. Anand Audio has acquired the rights for a staggering Rs. 17.70 crores, which includes the six songs, teaser, and trailer. This is currently the highest amount paid for audio rights in Indian cinema.

“KD,” short for “Kali Dasa,” is set to hit theaters in December 2024, as announced by the team at a press meet held at the Taj West End Hotel on Race Course Road.

Key figures at the event included KVN Production’s Supreeth, Anand Audio’s Shyam and Anand, director Prem, music director Arjun Janya, and lead actor Dhruva Sarja.

Dhruva Sarja highlighted that while his film “Addhuri” was made on a budget of Rs. 4 crores, the audio rights for “KD” alone have fetched four times that amount. He expressed immense gratitude to Anand Audio for their support since the early days of his career.

“KD” also sets a record for music composition under Arjun Janya’s direction. The initial compositions were done in Mysuru, with further scoring in Budapest involving nearly 256 musicians, surpassing the previous record held by Shahrukh Khan’s “Pathaan,” which had 180 musicians.

Director Prem described “KD” as a film set in the 1970s, covering events from 1970 to 1980. Art director Mohan B Kere created a replica of Bengaluru on a 20-acre land where most of the filming took place.

The cast includes Dhruva Sarja, Grishma Nanaiah, Shilpa Shetty, V Ravichandran, and Ramesh Aravind, among other notable actors.

The first teaser was released by Prem on June 16th in Mumbai, and the first song release event is scheduled for June 24th in Hyderabad.

Based on real-life incidents, “KD” departs from the typical motherly emotions seen in Prem’s previous films. The film opens with a highly emotional scene featuring Dhruva Sarja.

Arjun Janya, who considers this film his best work and a blessing from God, acknowledged the contributions of Valent and Peter in supporting the music with 256 musicians. He described Prem as ‘K’ for King and Dhruva Sarja as ‘D’ for Dinosaur.

The film’s 150-day shoot is nearing completion, with some patchwork and a song sequence yet to be filmed in a foreign location, according to Prem.

Anand Audio’s Shyam mentioned that KVN’s Suprith was instrumental in fixing the amount for the audio rights, which equaled the entire budget of Anand Audio. He praised the quality of the songs, predicting guaranteed success.

Anand from Anand Audio affirmed their confidence in the substantial investment, describing the music as a “sure shot winner.”
