The trend of releasing movies directly on OTT platforms, bypassing theaters, was initiated by power star Puneeth Rajkumar’s banner, PRK. Prior to this, the Kannada film ‘Bhinna’ had a direct release on the Zee OTT platform.

Now, there’s a growing trend among filmmakers to produce content specifically for OTT platforms. With audience attendance declining rapidly, there is apprehension about the future of OTT platforms.

However, ‘Entha Kathe Maaraya’, directed by Rakshit Tirthahalli, which revolves around current environmental phenomena, has been released directly on OTT platforms. Airtel Xtreme, Hungama Play, OTT Play, etc., have garnered viewers’ attention by broadcasting it. Screened at the “Chennai International Film Festival,” the film sheds light on the current water crisis and global warming in Bangalore.

Directed by Rakshit Theerthahalli, the film is based on the story of ‘Kadina Nentaru’ and stars Sudhir SJ, Vedant Subramanya, Sripriya, Ashwin Haasan, Karisubbu, Keshav Gutthali, Sameer Nagard, etc. Cinematography is by Guruprasad Narnad, music by Hemant Jois, and editing by Sudhir SJ. Ramakrishna Nigade has invested in the film under the Sanchalana Movies banner.

The film’s story revolves around the idea of bringing drinking water to Bangalore from the Sharavati River. It covers the lives of those affected by the Sharavathi River from the construction of the Linganamakki Dam to the present. The film focuses on one river, one family, and how a series of projects affect both the family and the urgent need for preserving the sources of the Western Ghats.

Forests are the main source of water, and the significant aspect of ‘Entha Kathe Marai’ is its portrayal of plans to destroy forests like the Western Ghats for drinking water and other projects. It’s as if we are inviting our future challenges through the characters and scenes depicted in the film.

The film team’s concern is that everyone should watch the film to raise awareness about global warming and the importance of water.
