RENOWNED JOURNALIST MK BHASKAR RAO PASSES AWAY

Renowned journalist MK Bhaskar Rao, celebrated for his exceptional contributions spanning over four decades across Cinema, Literature, Music, and Political journalism, has sadly passed away following a prolonged battle with cancer. He peacefully departed on April 3rd at a private hospital.

In a recent ‘Book Brahma’ rapid-fire session, MK Bhaskar Rao expressed his desire to be reincarnated as a crow, citing their innate instinct to share food among their community, symbolizing the essence of hunger awareness. He emphasized the need to eradicate ‘Hasivu,’ a term denoting hunger.

Aged 75, MK Bhaskar Rao had been bravely battling cancer for two years before his health deteriorated significantly, particularly in the last 15 days. He received treatment at a private hospital in Bangalore. He is survived by his wife, Jaya, daughter, actress Anusha Rao (married to renowned cinematographer Manohar Joshi), and son, Abhijit. The details of his cremation will be finalized upon Abhijit’s return from abroad. MK Bhaskar Rao also made appearances in several films.

Originally hailing from Shirasi taluk, MK Bhaskar Rao was raised in Sagar, Shimoga district, where he pursued his education before venturing into journalism. He dedicated over four decades to esteemed newspapers like Samyuktha Karnataka and Prajavani.

Just half a year ago, he was honored under the auspices of Karnataka State Working Journalists’ Association, led by President Shivananda Tagadur.
