The number of female directors in Kannada cinema is not high. Megha Akshara has joined the ranks of Prema Karanth, Kavita Lankesh, Sumana Kittur, Roopa Iyer, Rishika Sharma, Roopa Rao, etc., as a new director. She has directed a film titled ‘Rakshasa Tantra’, which is a computer screen-based horror story. She also produced the film.
Megha Akshara, who has worked as an associate director for a couple of films, is making her debut as an independent director with this film. She conducted research on this concept and then crafted the story and screenplay.
Five friends are on a video conference call and suddenly see something strange. Director Megha Akshara has narrated the film with events that pique curiosity about what will happen next. There is no designated hero or heroine in this film; all five characters are equally important and appear throughout the entire movie. The story unfolds from nightfall to dawn.
The director has already completed shooting and received a U/A certificate from the censors. She is all set to release ‘Rakshasa Tantra’ by the end of this month. Most of the shooting for this film was done indoors.
The unique aspect of this film is that the shooting was completed after dubbing the voices. Rakshita Nagaraju, Sukhesh Anand, Rakshita Mallick, Tilak Kumar, and Megha Akshara also star in lead roles. The film features cinematography by Dinesh Babu, music by Yashwant, and editing by Satish Chandraiah.
