A long innings in the cinema industry as producer, distributor and exhibitor Jack Manjunath has announced a small break of two years from the cinema industry. The aftermath of ‘Vikrant Rona’ has made him take deviation in business. He is announcing his new venture of food industry business in December this year.

In addition to that, I am fed up with a few activities that made me move away from the cinema business of entertainment. I have a handful of films for distribution. In that Gurudut Ganiga influenced me to take up ‘Rayaru Bandaru Mavana Manege’ a Gujarati film in Kannada for distribution in Shalini Arts. Last week’s film ‘Yada Yada Hi’ did not do well at all. What’s happening to the cinema industry I feel?

The hope in the cinema industry is rapidly depreciating. Even the exhibitor sector is strongly hit by lack of attendance on the one side and the big films not available to keep the cinema halls alive. According to Jack Manjunath we should have at least three films in a year from big stars of the Kannada cinema industry. Otherwise it would be very difficult to survive, he says. The closure stage has come for the multiplexes in Malls. This was not expected, he says.
