Aged 65, VR Bhaskar, a deeply respected director and close associate of Sahasa Simha Dr. Vishnuvardhan, passed away in Mysuru’s JSS Hospital following a brief illness.

As a trusted collaborator in more than 200 films, Dr. Vishnuvardhana, an iconic figure in Bhaskar’s life, endured a challenging period when he tragically lost his son years ago. Interestingly, Bhaskar initially ventured into the world of cinema to fulfill his childhood aspiration of acting. His cinematic journey began with a modest acting role in ‘Yavvanada Holeyalli,’ but his directorial talents eventually led him to work on Dr. Vishnuvardhana’s films, including ‘Bangarada Mane.’ Subsequently, Bhaskar contributed as an assistant director to successful Kannada films like Rudranaga, Vishnu Vijaya, Police Daada, and Karulina Kudi. He made his directorial debut in Kannada cinema with ‘Anuraga Devathe.’

Bhaskar exhibited remarkable skills as an assistant director in Kannada films such as ‘Karthavya,’ ‘Police Mattu Daada,’ ‘Nanna Shatru,’ ‘Daada,’ ‘Aradhane,’ ‘Kadamba,’ ‘Suprabhatha,’ ‘Lion Jagapathi Rao,’ ‘Aptha Mithra,’ ‘Aptha Rakshaka,’ and more.

Following the tragic loss of his son, Bhaskar also endured the passing of his wife. He resided with his mother in Mysuru. The cremation of VR Bhaskar will be held on Thursday at Harischandra Ghat, located at the base of Chamundi Hills.
