The sixth edition of Dr Raj Cup cricket tournament is progressing with a lot of new ideas and the point of promoting the Kannada films along with playing cricket by 12 teams this time is sure to give new boundaries for Kannada films.
Rajesh Brahmavar, famous dance director heading all the tournaments so far is extremely happy this time because the auction of teams is taking place in Dubai Elizabeth ship on 17th of this month. The semi final and final plus a few other league matches with super stars as team leaders will be played in six countries.
This time the focus is also on Karnataka Rathna Puneeth Rajakumar = Dr Raj Puneeth cup – it will be a golden metal cup this time, says Rajesh Brahmavar who is contemplating on investment of Rs.8.5 crores. From the last five episodes of Dr Raj Cup we have been able to make 2 acres of land at Bidadi and 5th edition itself made a profit of 5.5 lakhs.
While 12 heroes are representing each team, 12 directors are taking leadership of the team. Smt Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar will be inaugurating the matches. On weekends the matches are played and it is a complete one month trip for over 250 plus of the Kannada cinema industry to six countries.
There will be no liquor and money for anyone in the team. We have been able to gather a number of sponsors at the state, national and international level, says Rajesh Brahmavar, answering a question on pooling of funds. We have not taken help from companies that sell liquor, cigarettes etc , he adds.
At the media address actor Anirudh, Ravishanker Gowda, Simple Suni, Chetan Kumar, Manikanth Khadri, Pawan Wodeyar, Harsha, Nagakiran addressed the media at SRV Theater.
The countries decided so far are Srilanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangkok and Dubai to play the limited overs matches. In all there will be 27 matches.
