When the half an hour conversation with acclaimed singer Vijayaprakash turned to Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar and the much-loved song Bombe Helutaithe, Vijay Prakash’s expression reflected both reverence and emotion.

The song, he observed, has transcended its cinematic origins to become almost like a prayer for many listeners.

“People may think that a song becomes easy once you are an established singer. But Bombe Helutaithe was not easy for me at all. I made several attempts, but it just wasn’t falling into place. I felt I should not approach the song with arrogance or casualness. It demanded a certain standard of singing, and I wanted to do justice to it.”

“One day, after sleeping for nearly ten hours, I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night. Within half an hour, I had completed the song.”

The song held special significance because of its association with Dr. Rajkumar’s legacy and Puneeth Rajkumar’s film. Vijay Prakash knew that he had to approach it with exceptional care and sensitivity.

Once the pitch and musical arrangement were finalized, music director V. Harikrishna sent the recording to Puneeth Rajkumar. His response was immediate and enthusiastic.

“After listening to the song, Puneeth called me and said he wanted to meet me right away. He was even ready to come to my place. I told him that I would visit him at 10 the following morning.”

“When I reached his house, he was waiting at the gate to receive me. We had breakfast together, and he appreciated the song so warmly. He also gave me three gifts. I was completely overwhelmed by his affection and generosity,” Vijay Prakash recalled.

For the singer, the experience was about much more than professional appreciation. It was a deeply personal moment of connection with an artist he admired and respected.
