The film Hulibeera, made largely by people from North Karnataka, is releasing across the state on Friday, October 2. Rang Birangi fame Madarangi Mallikarjun has written the story and screenplay and directed the film.
Yerrabirri fame rural hero Anjan plays the lead in the film, while Chaitra Thotada and Vanu Patil appear as the heroines.
The film’s special feature is its strong North Karnataka identity and nativity. The hero, heroine, producer, director and almost everyone associated with the film are from North Karnataka.
The film has been jointly produced under Sai Star Cinemas by Daval Saheb Hunashimarad, Ashok N. (Turuvekere) and Sujatha Girish.
Hulibeera is Madarangi Mallikarjun’s fifth directorial venture. Generally, in villages, when young men move forward courageously and take on challenges, people say, “He is like a tiger.” The protagonist Beera stands at the forefront and works to solve any problem in his village. The villagers therefore call him “Hulibeera.”
The film’s concept revolves around the issue of educated young men and women leaving villages for the city in search of jobs. Who will develop those villages if everyone leaves? How Beera addresses this problem and brings them back to their village, eventually earning the name “Hulibeera,” forms the core of the film.
Along with comedy, sentiment and entertainment, the film also carries a good message.
The song and dialogue portions of the film were shot for 51 days in Badami and the surrounding villages. Veteran actor Rangayana Raghu appears as an elder in the village.
Rajendra Karanth, Mallu Bagalkot, Santosh Keri and Revanna are part of the remaining cast.
The film has music composed by Veer Samarth, background score by Dharma Vish and cinematography by Sanathana.
