Popular Kannada films director Simple Suni’s much-awaited Lambodara 2.0 is set to create a new milestone in Indian cinema by featuring a real humanoid robot in a prominent role. Developed by Bengaluru-based Machani Robotics, the advanced humanoid robot JIA will appear on screen as a technology-driven performer. Unlike CGI or an actor in a robot costume, JIA itself will be part of the film.
A science-fiction social thriller, the film marks the debut of newcomer Anil Shetty as the lead, with Sachi Bindra as the female lead. Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor, known for films such as Rang De Basanti, Don 2, Dear Zindagi and Veeram, is also joining the cast and will make his official Kannada film debut with this project. His character is said to play a crucial role in the story.
The film explores the impact of technology and social media on today’s youth, focusing on issues such as social-media obsession, loneliness, the illusion of happiness, digital addiction and digital control. Set against the backdrop of Bengaluru, the story explores the conflict between the real and digital worlds in the age of Artificial Intelligence.
Director Simple Suni says the film reflects the reality of contemporary life and examines how technology influences human emotions and decisions.
Anil Shetty said that entering the industry with such a unique subject under Simple Suni’s direction is a special and proud moment for him. With its distinctive storyline and innovative technology, Lambodara 2.0 has already generated considerable curiosity among film lovers.
