Different kinds of story-based films have come and gone in Kannada cinema. But movies belonging to the cyber crime genre are very rare. To fill that gap, the movie Geek (GEEK) is being made. The film, which has created curiosity right from its title, has grabbed attention through its name itself. At the same time, discussions are happening about the meaning of “Geek.” This movie, directed by young filmmaker D. Hari Prakash, has currently completed shooting and is in the post-production stage.
To give a glimpse of the film, the teaser has been released through the D Beats YouTube channel by the film team. More than 50 celebrities from Sandalwood appreciated the concept and supported the team by digitally launching it. Along with character introductions, a small glimpse about “Geek” is also seen in it. The teaser clearly indicates that this is a neat film packed with strong content.
“This is a movie based on the misuse of mobile-related apps and data in recent times, and cyber crime and suspense-thriller elements have been added to it. The film has been made with the intention of delivering suspense and thrill along with content. Most of the shooting has been done in and around Bengaluru. Since the film needed to be technically strong, skilled technicians have come together to make this movie,” says director Hari Prakash.
Hari Prakash, originally a software engineer, has previously directed short films. Those received considerable appreciation and awards. The Geek teaser stands as proof that, with his short film experience and passion for cinema, he has the eagerness to present something new in his very first feature film.
Praveen Tej, Chaitra Achar, Kiran Srinivas, and Viranica Shetty are playing major roles. Under the banners of S.V.M Productions and Hari Prakash Films, Sandeep Nagaraj and Priyanka have jointly financed this movie. Yogeesh Raj has worked as the executive producer.
The film features cinematography by Keerthan Poojary, music composition by Joe Costa, editing by Shashank Narayan, DI by Liju Prabhakar, and sound designing by Arun.
