JAGADISH KUMAR S GETS DWARAKISH AWARD

S. Jagadish Kumar, a senior journalist who has been active in Kannada film journalism for the past three decades, has been announced as the recipient of this year’s prestigious ‘Dwarakish Memorial Award.’ This honor, presented by the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists, recognizes Jagadish’s long-standing experience in closely observing and reporting on the ups and downs of the film industry.

The award presentation is taking place in Bidar district on April 10 and 11 in grand style by KUWJ.


A resident of Bengaluru, S. Jagadish Kumar completed his commerce degree and, driven by his passion for cinema, pursued a diploma at the Karnataka Film Technology Training Centre (KFTTC). He began his career as an assistant director under renowned director B. Suresh, working on popular television serials like Sadhane, and also assisted senior director S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu in the film Kurigalu Saar Kurigalu.


He has successfully directed hundreds of film-related programs on channels such as ETV Kannada, Udaya TV, and Kasturi. Notably, he has handled several shows and large-scale productions including Demandappo Demand, Hrudayadinda, Taaregalu Thota, Hosa Picture, Top 10, Comedy Time, Nadahabba, Geetha Sambhrama, Chitravarte, Neevello… Naavalli…, Sakath Cinema, Sunfeast Udaya Awards, Kasturi Sirigandha Film Awards, Sapthaswara, Dream Girls, and many other reality shows and live events.


Beyond visual media, Jagadish has also made a mark in print journalism through his writings. He worked for several years as a reporter for Ee Sanje newspaper and is currently serving as the editor of the Cini Suddi web platform.

Presently, he is serving as the Secretary of the Karnataka Cinema Patrakartara Sangha and maintains strong relationships with artists, producers, and technicians in the film industry. He is also associated with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce in the distributors’ sector and has served as a committee member. The award being conferred on a dedicated journalist who understands the inner and outer workings of the film industry has brought joy to the media fraternity.
