An unsung producer of yesteryears, A. Narasimha Murthy, passed away at Gnanashrama, situated on Bannerghatta Road, on Tuesday. Akkihebbalu Narasimha Murthy, aged around 80 years, was the producer of two top Kannada films, ‘Sampaththige Savaal’ and ‘Giri Kanye’. He was also the co-producer of ‘Geetha’, a Shankar Nag directorial venture, along with N. Bhakthavatsala.
The 1974 classic Kannada film ‘Sampaththige Savaal’, produced by A. Narasimha Murthy, was a runaway hit in the career of Dr. Rajkumar. Similarly, ‘Giri Kanye’, also starring Dr. Rajkumar, featured the current KFCC President Dr. Jayamala as the heroine.
‘Sampaththige Savaal’ was remade in all the South Indian languages. A. Narasimha Murthy was not given due prominence in the Kannada film industry.
