A short film titled Maharshi Valmiki, based on the life of sage Valmiki, was unveiled on the occasion of Ram Navami. The 21-minute film has been directed by Praveen Shivanna and produced by Ratna Das.

The film presents the story of Ratnakara, who transformed into Maharshi Valmiki following guidance from sages. It also depicts the incident of Valmiki witnessing the death of a krauncha bird, which is believed to have inspired him to compose the Ramayana, later known as the Valmiki Ramayana.

The unveiling of the short film was followed by a press conference held recently. The event was attended by Sri Rishi Avirbhava Guru Poornadaiti, National Award-winning editor Suresh Urs, actor Ganesh Rao Kesarkar, and Venkatesh as chief guests. Members of the team and guests spoke after the screening.

Director Praveen Shivanna said that although he has worked on several projects as an editor, this is his first short film as a director. He stated that the film was completed with the support of the producer, artists, and technicians, and that shooting took place in and around Chikkamagaluru. He also expressed gratitude to the guests who attended the unveiling.

Actor Sujith Shetty, who plays the role of Valmiki in the film, said that it took him 14 years to get an acting opportunity, drawing a comparison with the 14-year exile of Lord Rama. He described it as a coincidence that his acting opportunity came through a story related to a devotee of Lord Rama. He also mentioned his experience of working alongside senior actor Shivamani.

Actor Roopa Mutturayappa expressed her happiness about being part of the short film. Producer Ratna Das thanked the guests and the team members for their support. Cinematographer Tanvik and music director Ramanujan were also present at the press conference.
