Shivateja Y, the 14-year-old grandson of film producer Rockline Venkatesh, has secured entries in the India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and International Book of Records for solving mixed Megaminx Rubik’s Cubes.

A press conference was held on Sunday at The Conrad Hotel in Bengaluru to mark the achievement. Family members, including Yatish Venkatesh, were present and spoke about the process behind the record.

Speaking at the event, Rockline Venkatesh said the family usually appears at film-related events but had gathered this time to speak about Shivateja’s achievement outside cinema. He said many children spend time watching television and using mobile phones, and noted that the family was addressing the media to speak about the achievement of the younger generation.

Shivateja’s father Yatish Venkatesh said parents should identify the talents of their children and provide support accordingly. He said Shivateja’s mother first recognised his interest in Rubik’s Cube, while he provided the facilities and encouragement required for practice.

Shivateja’s mother said this was the first time someone in their family had achieved recognition in the Rubik’s Cube field. She said Shivateja had been practising Rubik’s Cube continuously for the past three years and completed all the difficult stages before achieving the record.

Shivateja Yatish from Bengaluru, Karnataka, set the record by solving the highest number of mixed Megaminx Rubik’s Cubes. At the age of 14 years and 9 months, he solved 21 Megaminx cubes in 1 hour, 27 minutes, 12 seconds and 30 milliseconds. Shivateja is also the grandson of MLA Muniratna.
