The first-ever media interaction by Smt. Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar took place on Monday at the residence of the late Karnataka Rathna Puneeth Rajakumar. Smt. Ashwini, a prominent member of the illustrious Dr. Rajakumar and Parvathamma Rajakumar family, shared her thoughts with the media on the upcoming release of ‘Achar and Co,’ directed by Sindhu Srinivasamurthy. While previous PRK Productions films were released on OTT platforms, ‘Gandhada Gudi,’ which garnered great attention, featuring Puneeth Rajakumar in captivating forest locations of Karnataka, had a theatrical release before becoming available on OTT.

‘Achar and Co’ is set to release on July 28th, with a premiere held on Monday at 7 pm in Bengaluru Cauvery Theater.

During the media chat on her house lawns, Smt. Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar, heading PRK Productions, spoke about the legacy she inherited:

  • She learned from her mother-in-law, Dr. Parvathamma Rajakumar, and Raghavendra Rajakumar’s production system, closely observing the risks involved in filmmaking. Continuing this tradition and drawing inspiration from her husband, Puneeth Rajakumar, she aspires to forge ahead.
  • PRK aims to produce two films each year, with ‘O2,’ a medical thriller starring Ashika Ranganath, already in the pipeline for this year.
  • Emphasizing the importance of content and filmmaking, PRK Productions gives preference to new directors and technicians, aligned with Puneeth Rajakumar’s vision.
  • Smt. Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar is currently reading a few novels and has a team of three directors who review subjects before proceeding. The collaboration with the writer and director commences once the subject is finalized, providing them with creative freedom.
  • PRK Productions prioritizes directors, as Puneeth Rajakumar himself believed in being a director’s actor in his career.
  • The production house primarily focuses on comedy and thriller genres. With ‘Achar and Co,’ the aim is to attract family audiences to theaters.
  • The film’s subject, set in the 1960s and 1970s, easily resonates with the current generation, offering them a glimpse into the past.
  • During the release of ‘Achar and Co,’ Smt. Ashwini Puneeth Rajakumar experienced a sense of anticipation akin to exam results.
  • Her eldest daughter, Druthi, watched and enjoyed the film while continuing her studies, while the youngest, Vandana, displays an interest in the technical aspects of filmmaking, often discussing it with cousins Vinay and Guru.
  • Towards the end of the year, PRK Productions will embark on another film, directed by a Journalist, marking an exciting highlight.
