This bilingual in Kannada and Malayalam ‘Shesha 2016’ starring popular Malayalam actor John Kaippally and Pramod Shetty of Kannada is all set to rock the silver screen on March 6 simultaneously.
Police story-based film “Shesha 2016” has been acquired for OTT by Amazon Prime Video for a good price even before its theatrical release.
Another police story film is ready to arrive on the silver screen. Shot in Kannada and Malayalam, the movie reportedly revolves around an intriguing story depicting the conflict between corruption and honesty within the police department. Produced by Umesh Gowda, Manjuvani V.S., and Veena S. under Maradigudda Entertainments, the film is directed by young talent Pradeep Arasekere.
ACP Ganesh and Mohan Kumar Danappa, Chief of the State Police Complaints Authority, attended as chief guests and launched the release date poster of the film Shesha 2016.
The film, starring Pramod Shetty and John Kaippally in lead roles, has had its OTT rights acquired by Amazon Prime Video for a good amount. Hyderabad-based Dr. Rajeev and Kranthi Prasad have taken responsibility for this. Speaking later, Prasad said they have already acquired rights to around 1,880 films. If good quality and meaningful films come, they will definitely support them. That is why they have stood as a backbone to the team by acquiring the rights of “Shesha 2016.” Similarly, Dr. Rajeev, though writing in Kannada, spoke in English and said they will always support good films.
Director Pradeep Arasekere said this is his first directorial film. What remains after the conflict between good and bad is called “Shesha.” The film is set around fictional incidents taking place along the Karnataka–Kerala border during the 2016 period. He said he will always be indebted to the producers who trusted him. He previously worked in K.E.B. but quit his job due to his passion for cinema and directed this film. After much discussion on the subject, he made this film about corrupt activities carried out by some officers in the police department.
Usually, for everything there is an alternative system — if there is no government hospital, there is private; if no government school, there is private. But there is no alternative system for the government police department. Through this film, he has attempted to show how corruption in such a department causes problems to people and the hardships and suffering.
Much of the shooting took place in rain with night effects. Shooting was done for around 35 days without distinguishing between day and night. The film is being released simultaneously in Kannada and Malayalam.
Producer Umesh Gowda said that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the OTT rights of the film. They are starting the promotional activities from here. They plan to hold an audio release event in Hubballi and conduct promotions across various parts of Karnataka. Similarly, they will promote the film in places including Wayanad in Kerala and then release it simultaneously in both languages on March 06. There are also plans to dub and release it in other languages. He requested everyone’s support for their team.
Actor Pramod Shetty said police roles often come his way, but this film is very different. It is ready in both Kannada and Malayalam, and he himself has dubbed in Malayalam. The story revolves around incidents happening around a police station. It gives a kind of “Bell Bottom” feel. He requested everyone to watch this interesting film.
Senior actor Sidlingu Sridhar said he played a head constable role and was involved in shooting for about 15 days. He said it is a seat-edge film and such films should succeed.
Actress Archana Kottige said she also plays a police role but cannot reveal much about the film and requested everyone to watch and make it successful.
Actor Sai Bhairav also shared his experiences. Malayalam talent John Kaippally plays a major police officer role in the film. Senior actor Devaraj plays the role of an SP. Several other young artists have acted in the film. The music is composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi, and cinematography is by R.S. Anand Kumar. Ravi Sindhanur and many others attended the event and wished the team success.
