The trailer release event of the much-anticipated film “Gharga”, produced by Ashwini Ram Prasad, the producer of films like Jogi and Preeti Eke Bhoomi Mele Ide, was held at the Orion Mall premises. His son Arun Ram Prasad is making his entry into the film industry as the lead actor with this film. Gharga is the name of a village, and the film carries the subtitle “The Land of Shadow.”
Veteran actor Saikumar plays a key role, while Rehan appears as the female lead. The story and screenplay have been written and directed by M. Shashidhar.
On this occasion, dialogue King Saikumar, who has completed 50 years in the film industry, was felicitated. On stage, the film’s trailer was released by one of Saikumar’s ardent fans, who delivered a famous dialogue from the film Police Story.
Speaking afterward, Saikumar said that the moment Shashi narrated the story to him; he felt he should act in it. He mentioned that it was a role he had not played in a long time—an investigation-type character. He added that more such directors should come forward. He expressed happiness that Ashwini Ram Prasad the producer has given good films to Kannada cinema, and said the film is very rich in content.
Producer Ashwini Ram Prasad, speaking on the occasion, said that he made the film for the story. He felt there was strong creativity and substance in it. He liked the way Shashi narrated the story and the screenplay. He emphasized that this is not a routine film but a different kind of cinema, and said audiences would realize this once it is released. He also announced that the film would be released next month.
Distributor KCN Kumar said that the film has turned out very well and will be released on February 6. He praised director Shashi’s talent and mentioned that he has already given him an advance for his next film.
Director Shashidhar said that the producer had given him a good opportunity, which he has utilized well. He stated that he has made a film that audiences will like. The lead actor has three getups in the film. He said that watching the trailer would have already given confidence to the audience and assured that the film matches that standard. He invited viewers to watch the film and even said they could call him whether they liked it or not.
Lead actor Arun said that he felt confident as soon as the director narrated the story to him. His role is very different, with multiple shades such as a writer and an underworld connection. He described it as a horror–crime thriller subject. He added that even before facing the camera, he trained in ‘Kalari’ fights, action, and dance.
On stage, music composer R. P. Patnaik sang a song composed by him. Many dignitaries were present, including Raviraj, the brother of Radhika Kumaraswamy.
‘Gharga’ is an adventurous drama and horror film, with Arun appearing as a writer and researcher. The film is being released by N. Kumar. It contains elements of horror, suspense, thriller, and action, offering complete entertainment. The film has been shot in Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Dandeli, Agumbe, and Bengaluru.
