The Kannada film Amruta Anjan, created by a team of young talents, is scheduled for a statewide theatrical release on January 30. As part of the film’s promotional activities, an emotional song from the film was recently released at an event held at Utsav Legacy, GT Mall, followed by a press interaction with the media.
The team behind Amruta Anjan had earlier gained attention through a YouTube short film titled Amrutanjan, which received a strong response online. Encouraged by the reception, the same group has now transitioned to feature filmmaking with Amruta Anjan.
Director Jyothi Rao Mohith, addressing the media, said this is his second directorial venture after Soda Buddi. He stated that the idea for the film originated from the short film Amrutanjan. He also said the team faced challenges related to the film’s title before finalising Amruta Anjan. According to him, the film is structured as a comedy-based entertainer, with a mix of humour and sentimental elements. He explained that the emotional song released recently is inspired by personal childhood experiences and focuses on parental relationships. The song features senior actor Naveen D. Padil as the father and Madhumathi as the mother, with lyrics written by Venkatesh Kulkarni.
Actor Gaurav Shetty said he plays the role of an alcoholic, with the narrative showing his wife’s efforts to change his behaviour. He mentioned that the film includes comedy in the first half and emotional elements in the latter part, and that certain scenes were performed realistically to suit the story. He added that the film has undergone changes based on feedback from an initial screening.
Actor Sudhakar Gowda said the film represents years of effort by the team, noting that they started their journey from scratch. He referred to a past controversy and stated that he had already apologised, but the issue continues to resurface. He requested audiences to judge the film based on its content and performances.
Actor Payal Chengappa said Amruta Anjan is her first feature film. She added that she had earlier worked with the team on short films and now plays a character named Uri. She stated that the film includes a love story, college-based narrative, and family-oriented elements.
Actor Madhumathi, who plays the mother’s role, said the film offered her an emotionally driven character, unlike her earlier work in short films. Actor Karthik Ruvvari said the film differs from the team’s regular comedy shorts and features distinct character structures. Another actor, Karthik, also shared his experience.
The film also stars Sri Bhavya and Pallavi Parva. Amruta Anjan is produced by Lokesh Nagappa and will be distributed by Jayanna Films. Cinematography is by Sumanth Acharya, editing by Kiran Kumar, and background score by Rohith Shower.
