With a title like Super Hit and the caption Running Successfully, the film’s team—headed by director Vijayanand—has used clever marketing to draw audiences to theatres. The strategy also ensures that the media repeatedly uses the title Super Hit, which further attracts viewers. This smart thinking comes from Vijayanand, who is the brother of popular Kannada lyricist Dr. V. Nagendra Prasad.
Meanwhile, two popular comedy actors, Gilli Nata and Gaurav Shetty—who have created a sensation on television and YouTube—come together in this nonstop comedy entertainer.
This is Vijayanand’s third film after Olu Muniswamy and Krishna Talkies. The film is produced by Umesh G under the banner of Vijayalakshmi Enterprises. Shooting was completed quietly, and the teaser was released on Monday evening through the Music Bazaar channel.
Speaking about the film, director Vijayanand says, “This is a comedy thriller filled with twists and turns. There is a ‘wow factor’ every ten minutes. I found the title Super Hit very suitable, and the tagline Running Successfully fits perfectly with the film. It is a journey-based story shot in Hubli, Dharwad, Dandeli, and other locations. The shoot has been completed, and I decided to announce the film only after the entire filming was done. The movie is currently in the re-recording stage, and we plan to release it soon.”
On making his debut as a hero, Gaurav Shetty says, “The real hero of the film is the director. He has written a brilliant story and has constantly improved it along the way. The biggest challenge for me was acting alongside Gilli Nata. There are many talented comedy actors in the film, and the movie is a complete entertainer.” Gaurav Shetty, who has a huge following on social media, also hopes to bring his fans to theatres and ensure strong initial footfall.
The film stars Gilli Nata, Gaurav Shetty, Shwetha, Sadhu Kokila, Pramod Shetty, Dragon Manju, Tennis Krishna, Giri Shivanna, Kari Subbu, Swapna Shettygar, and others in prominent roles. V. Nagendra Prasad handles music and lyrics, while R. D. Nagarjun is the cinematographer.
Gilli, who rose to fame through comedy shows and is now a notable contestant on Bigg Boss, plays the lead role in Super Hit, which is now ready for release.
Producer G. Umesh had long dreamt of making a “super hit” film, especially after overcoming many ups and downs during production. Keeping this sentiment in mind—and because it aligned with the story—the director chose Super Hit as the title.
From beginning to end, the film reportedly offers twists and surprises every ten minutes. The director has also hinted that this is the first time in Kannada cinema that such a unique attempt has been made in the thriller-comedy genre.
