In the action thriller investigative film ‘Siren,’ a young and handsome youth, Praveer Shetty, makes a promising impact as Samarth. He showcases his potential and gives hope for a bright future in the industry.
However, ‘Siren’ has limited the young Praveer to portraying Samarth with only one mood, failing to capture the ‘Navarasas,’ or nine emotions, in his performance, which is expected from a debut director like Raja Venkaiah.
The director strategically attempts to grasp the audience’s attention by moving the screenplay from one plot to another. Ultimately, he emphasizes the strong bond between a father and son in a single sentence.
Samarth, a young and sharp cop, along with his two assistants, delves into a missing bank employee case, discovering that Swathi has been brutally murdered. However, as his investigation progresses, he senses something amiss. The involvement of an NRI angle and property issues bring several complexities to the case, leading Samarth to unveil a shocking revelation related to the NRI’s murder under the guise of “Family Planning.”
With two murders pointing towards suspicious elements, Samarth crafts his own strategy to expose and punish the criminals. The reasons behind his determination to take on this task can only be understood by watching it on the silver screen.
Praveer Shetty shines in the action mode, showing potential for a successful career in the entertainment business. The supporting performances by Achyuth Kumar, Sharat Lohitashva, Sparsha Rekha, and Pavitra Lokesh are concise and impactful.
The film features only one song in a Daaba featuring Yashika, and the background score proves to be adequate. Nagesh Acharya, a veteran in digital cinematography, delivers his best, creating an engaging visual experience. While the screenplay works reasonably well for an investigative thriller, a punch in the dialogues could have added further depth to the overall narrative.
