The 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival committee has invited entries for the Kannada, Indian, and Asian cinema competition categories.
Preparations for the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival, organized by the Government of Karnataka, the Department of Information and Public Relations, and the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy from March 1 to 8, 2025, have begun. This year, the film festival will be held under the slogan “A Garden of Peace for All.”
As usual, eligible films have been invited for selection in the “Kannada Cinema” competition, “Chitrabharathi” representing Indian films, and “Asian Cinema” competition categories.
Feature films submitted for selection in the “Kannada Cinema Competition Section” must have a minimum duration of 70 minutes and must have been produced between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024 (both days inclusive). Feature films made in Kannada and any dialect of Karnataka are eligible for entry into this competition section.
For the “Chitrabharathi” category, films submitted for selection in the Indian Films Competition must have been produced between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024 (both days inclusive). These must be feature films in any Indian language with a minimum duration of 70 minutes to be eligible for selection.
In the “Asian Cinema Competition Section,” films made in any Asian country between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024 (both days inclusive), with a running time of at least 70 minutes, are eligible for selection.
For Indian language films seeking entry in the “Kannada Film,” “Chitrabharathi – Indian Film,” and “Asian Film” categories, the production date mentioned in the certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification will determine eligibility.
The submission process for films in the competition categories of the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival started on January 9, 2025. To submit films for the competitive categories, visit www.biffes.org. All film-related details must be provided along with the application. There will be an entry fee of ₹3,000 per film for the “Kannada Cinema” and “Chitrabharathi – Indian Cinema” competition categories. The last date for submitting applications is January 23, 2025. Submissions must include an online screener of the film with English subtitles, and the entry fee must be paid online.
